Chronic Christmas: Surviving the Holidays with Chronic Illness by Lene Andersen
Lene's sense of humor is always a delight. She has lived with rheumatoid arthritis since childhood, yet maintains the ability to see the humor, the obsurdity and the little delights in life. This book is sure to make you smile, and will also help make your holiday so much easier to deal with. Full of great advice and written in the form of an "Advent Calendar," Chronic Christmas acknowledges the things you are able to do during the festive season, as well as helping you to recognize your limits and cheerfully delegate small tasks to others. I especially liked how Lene brought the concept of "hygge" into the mix, which is the Danish way of making your winter season comfy and cozy.

The ABCs of Caregiving: Words to Inspire You by Nanette J. Davis
This lovely little book makes a thoughtful gift for someone who takes care of you. I read it while I was a caregiver for my elderly father; I appreciated its tender support. Caregiving is not an easy task or job. It's hard on the body and emotions, and consumes voluminous time and energy. Caregivers give so much of themselves - thank goodness that they do - but often they neglect to look after their own physical and emotional needs. The ABC's of Caregiving is a self-care bible for that beautiful soul. This is a gift that will mean the world to them. It's a wonderful way to say "Thank you!"
